This chocolate gravy recipe is a southern American favourite. It's made from milk thickened with flour, cocoa powder, and butter. This recipe yields a rich-velvety gravy best served with hot, flaky biscuits. It can also be poured over man desserts.
1 cup (39.33g) Tante's pure cocoa powder
3 tablespoons (30g) all-purpose flour
3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) salt
1 12-ounce evaporated milk
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons (8.4g) vanilla extract
In a medium bowl, whisk together Tante's pure cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt until fully mixed.
Slowly stir in the evaporated milk into the flour mixture until fully combined.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract into the mixture until the butter is melted. Serve immediately.
