Pizza sauce is rich in tomato and is made by cooking tomato sauce slowly over a low flame until it is thick and glossy. Pizza sauce has an intense tomato and garlic flavour that is perfect for pizza night.
1 can Tante's peeled plum tomatoes
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 large garlic clove finely grated
1/2 teaspoon salt or more to taste
freshly ground black pepper
pinch of dried red pepper flakes optional
Scoop 5 to 6 Tante's peeled plum tomatoes from their juices - roughly 290 grams and - transfer to the bowl of a mini food processor.
Pulse the tomatoes until coarsely pureed. This yields roughly 1.25 cups (10 fluid ounces). Transfer the tomatoes to a container or bowl. Add the olive oil, finely grated fresh garlic, salt, freshly ground black pepper, and dried red pepper flakes (if desired). Stir until well combined. Season to taste, adding more salt if needed.
